November 2025 – March 2026: Rush made multiple requests for and received large quantities of foreign currency and tens of millions of dollars in gold bars, claiming they were for “work-related expenses,” like covert ops or informants. April or early May, 2026: During a routine agency audit/review of asset storage and accountability, the CIA discovered that most of the gold bars and significant amounts of the currency were missing from official custody/storage. This mismatch triggered the internal investigation. Mid-May 2026: The internal probe identified potential criminal violations. CIA Director John Ratcliffe referred the matter to the FBI for a full law enforcement investigation. May 18, 2026: FBI raid on Rush’s home in Fairfax County, Virginia. May 19, 2026: Arrest.
